FIELD ENGINEER – E & I

SALT CAVERN FACILITY OPERATOR
We are seeking a full-time permanent Salt Cavern Facility Operator to join our client’s Industrial Services department in Fort Saskatchewan. The Salt Cavern Facility Operator is responsible for Salt Cavern Mining, Cavern production operation, and the operation of the industrial water system. This position operates pumps and other equipment in order to develop storage caverns. The position is based on 12 hour rotational shift, 7 days per week coverage. RESPONSIBILITIES: Check and record tank levels (complete report). Record the brine pipeline flow meter integrator reading. Check the well head valves and piping for possible leaks. Make sure all gauges are working properly. If the computer system is not working, pressure readings are taken from the well head gauges. Collect brine samples from wells and pipelines. Pipeline brine samples are taken at the appropriate sample point. Collect a fresh water sample prior to the suction of the injection pumps (for composite sample) at the screen before cell liquor, chlorine, and SSI have been added. Check fresh water injection pumps for proper operation and oil levels and correct if required. Check the pH on the brine with the pH meter and take proper action if required. Visually inspect each Fresh Water well or water intake for proper operation and possible leaks. Check the brine pumps for proper oil levels, seal water flush and proper operation. Make adjustments to production and pipeline if required. On each brine well sample taken, record the temperature and the density using the lab thermometer and the salimeter. Samples are collected during the operator rounds. Check the computer printout. Check the tank sump for rainwater accumulation and drain if necessary. Maintain a high standard of safety by ensuring proper procedures are followed in relation to operations and maintenance tasks, ensure equipment is properly prepared for maintenance and provide suggestions and/or improvements to the above. Able to conduct pre job safety meetings and issuing of Safe Work Agreements. QUALIFICATION • 4th Class Power engineering Certificate • Five to seven plus years of progressively responsible experience in a plant operations environment. • Experience in performing preventative maintenance activities. • Valid Driver’s License. • Efficient computer skills with a good working knowledge of MS Office. • Good communication and organizational skills. • A high degree of flexibility. • A team player.
